Strengthening the Heart of Broadus

The Town of Broadus became a member of the Montana Main Street Program in the Spring of 2024. 

The goal is to support downtown revitalization, historic preservation, economic development, and community beautification efforts. The program provides access to technical assistance, networking opportunities, grant resources, and revitalization strategies focused on strengthening rural downtowns.  

Current initiatives include:

  • Downtown beautification

  • Community branding

  • Business support

  • Public space improvements

  • Wayfinding and signage

  • Historic preservation

  • Community engagement

As a Main Street America Coordinating Program, the Montana Main Street Program is part of a powerful grassroots network consisting of 45 coordinating programs and over 1,600 neighborhoods and communities across the country committed to creating high-quality places and to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development.

THE FOUR POINTS:

ECONOMIC VITALITY

Focuses on capital, incentives, and other economic and financial tools to assist new and existing businesses, catalyze property development, and create a supportive environment for entrepreneurs and innovators that drive local economies. 

DESIGN

Supports a community’s transformation by enhancing the physical and visual assets that set the commercial district apart. 

PROMOTION

Positions the downtown or commercial district as the center of the community and hub of economic activity, while creating a positive image showcasing the community’s unique characteristics.

ORGANIZATION

Involves creating a strong foundation for a sustainable revitalization effort, including cultivating partnerships, community involvement, and resources for the district.

Broadus Grant #1

Provided funding for a Downtown Master Plan.  The Master Plan was officially adopted in July, 2025

Broadus Grant #2

Provided funding for a Downtown Parklet construction of both temporary and permanent parklets in the Town Square and at the Kingsley History Project.
