Powder River Community Heart and Soul Launches Phase 2
The Powder River Community Heart and Soul team is launching the second phase of its community engagement efforts. You may have seen the team at the Fourth of July BBQ or added your input at the Community Center during the Powder River County Fair, answering the question, “What do you love most about the Powder River community?”
This next phase focuses on listening deeply to the voices of people who live, work, and play in our area. While recent grant funding has emphasized how outsiders view Broadus and Powder River County, the Heart and Soul committee is committed to capturing the perspectives of those who call this place home.
The name “Powder River Community” was chosen intentionally, recognizing that many who support this area may not live in Broadus or even within county lines. The goal is to gather input from everyone who feels a connection to this community and to use that input to guide future decisions based on what matters most to local residents.
Volunteers will be conducting brief recorded interviews with community members and taking a photo to help tell the story of our region. Community members are encouraged to participate or volunteer as interviewers. Those interested should contact the Powder River County Extension Office at 406-436-2424.
In addition to interviews, there will be static feedback boards throughout the county. These poster boards offer quick and easy ways for community members to share thoughts, ideas, and reflections.
Once interviews are collected, the community will help identify key themes that emerge from the conversations. Volunteers are needed to help read and review interview transcripts. Anyone interested in assisting with this process is encouraged to reach out to the Extension Office.
The Heart and Soul committee is proud of this community and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside neighbors who care deeply about its future. Please help us capture and share what makes this Powder River Community a place you want to live.
